What author do you recommend for good mystery novels?
Q. Or suspense. I've read and loved all of Reginald Hill and James Lee Burke and I'd like to find another author I'd like equally well. Don't know where to start though. Thanks!

A. You have got to read tess gerritsen!! (Forgive me for the caps, but she really is that great!) If you are into crime(medical)/thriller this is what you are looking for! 'Harvest' was Gerritsen's thriller that brought her onto the mainstream market where everyone began to appreciate her skill for writing a great thriller novel. So I suggest that you start there.. Harvest is the book when Gerritsen ultimately draws on her years of experience as a doctor to deliver a harrowing and brilliantly crafted novel of suspense. When a heart intended for a transplant, has its origin questioned by a doctor, and nothing can prepare her for the grisly final reckoning. Hope this helps!! Which author or poet would you recommend interviewing for a school project?
Q. It's for my advanced creative writing class and I need to find an author or a poet to do a project on where I have to make a presentation on them and then do a piece of work that mirrors their style. I need to interview my author to find out more about them. Sharon Creech doesn't have any direct contact information. So, I'd need someone else. But I do love Creech's work though. I own the book Absolutely Normal Chaos, and I've read it many times.

How much would an author have to pay a publication company to publish their book?
Q. Id also like to know how much money the author would get back and how much from Royalties.

A. You have it in reverse. The publisher pays the author, the author NEVER, never ever, pays the publisher. However, the publisher does take a percentage of the profits and then passes the rest onto the author. The percentage ranges by genre, book, agent, and your clout as an author (don't expect too much money from your first book, but after you are established you can get a higher percentage of the profits). If you have a publisher that is demanding you pay them, then that isn't a legitimate publisher at all but a vanity press; you are their only market, so there will be no to almost no royalties (certainly not enough to cover your original costs).
